How we work

Our service is led by experienced HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologists with backgrounds across NHS and independent settings.

Dr Laura Onens, who leads the psychological rehabilitation service, has more than 18 years’ clinical experience, many of which have been spent working within acute hospital services, including inpatient, outpatient and Accident and Emergency departments. Dr Onens is currently is undertaking specialist training in Lifestyle Medicine with the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.

Her experience includes psychological work with individuals affected by:

  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Stroke and neurological conditions

  • Chronic pain
  • Long-term and systemic health conditions
  • Persistent physical symptoms
  • Trauma following medical events

  • Anxiety and adjustment following illness or injury

Dr Onens and her colleagues also have training in EMDR alongside other evidence-based approaches to trauma-care and rehabilitation.
