Fear and subsequent anxiety is an uncomfortable and sometimes debilitating experience. You may have a specific fear e.g. health anxiety or a phobia, or more of a generalised anxiety that may lead to racing thoughts and unhelpful coping styles e.g. social isolation, withdrawal, or aggression. You may notice memory lapses, sleep disorder, safety behaviours (e.g. obsessive compulsions), panic attacks and even deterioration of your physical health. Through psychological treatment, we are able to help you to develop greater perspective into your anxiety, overcome your difficulties, and recover your quality of life, health and emotional wellbeing.
Depression is an persistent emotional experience of feeling sad. Sometimes the cause of depression is easily identified, but for many it can be less clear. There is no magic formula to understand when and why a person might feel depressed. In psychological therapy you will have the opportunity to work with your psychologist to gain greater insight and perspective about the possible cause of your depression and then develop a treatment plan, tailored to your needs.
Many individuals can experience psychological difficulties as a result of challenging life events. Trauma can be experienced as a result of a recent event, or something more historical. Examples of life events that may result symptoms of trauma include abuse (e.g. neglect as a child, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, psychological bullying) to experiences of war, road accidents, cancer, crime, illness, birth. Anxiety, fear, hopelessness, nightmares and flashbacks are some of the difficulties that can linger following a traumatic event. If you feel that something in life is holding you back, therapy can help you overcome these symptoms and our psychologist can help you to heal by processing these unresolved emotions. We believe taking time to address mental health is just as important as physical health.
Low self esteem, relationship difficulties, occupational stress, family difficulties, coping with physical health conditions (long term conditions e.g. diabetes, stroke, heart conditions, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, gastrointestinal issues, neurological conditions, dermatological conditions; terminal illness, infertility, women's health), obsessive compulsive disorder, gender dysphoria, eating disorder, body dysmorphia, addiction, emotional dysregulation, complex grief, the impact of neurodevelopmental disorders in adulthood.

We expect to be running face to face clinics from the 12th of April 2021
We are currently only providing sessions by a remote video calling platform due to COVID-19 as it is not possible to practice safe social distancing in clinic without Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). After careful consideration and discussion with our current clients, we have concluded that PPE would negatively influence the therapeutic alliance (e.g. masks can conceal facial expression and limit communication) and therefore video consultation is not only safer, but clinically preferable to needing to use PPE. In the future and once safe to do so, we hope to be able to offer all clients the option to stay online or see us in clinic according to their preference.
In order to access your appointment you will be sent a link to click which will take you to a video consultation app called Zoom. This app can be accessed on a desktop, phone or tablet however it is recommended that you use a device that you do not need to hold for the duration of the session. You will also need to ensure you are able to access a private, quiet space during your appointment and have a suitable broadband connection to avoid disruptions.
